Profiles of the Gifted and Talented - Types I through VI
There are six (6) recognized profiles for Gifted and Talented Learners:
Type 1 - Successful Type 4 - Dropouts
Type 2 - Challenging Type 5 - Double-Labeled
Type 3 - Underground Type 6 - Autonomous
What is GT? Beyond "Type 1" As All We See
To meet NCLB instructionally, to get District numbers to where they should be, we have to rethink CEP instructionally and use data to teach in ways that transform "G" into "GT." This site is dedicated to the proposition that really smart people add to and multiply the abilities of others rather than minimize, penalize and subtract from their potential.
2011 means that we all win. And, that all subgroups meet 75% mastery to win. The rules have changed, and we will adapt to that change.
2013 means that we all win. And, that ALL students master the school game because all districts will respect both local and national expectations in order to win.
In the end, your and their success is entirely linked. There is no room for bias in a world where team success must take place based on expectations, merit and rules.
But can we teachers undergo transformation to maximize their "public" education? Who are you willing to become?
TEACHING SLEEPY
We have got to learn how to teach Sleepy. Sleepy--in today's classrooms of the NCLB era--no longer bears one stereotype.
Freestyle or no style, exemplary education goes forth
from all of us having and renewing a teachable spirit.
Teach to learn, continually learn how to teach, and then teach Sleepy and others how to do both.
To Teach Sleepy, You Must Reach Sleepy

- Ms. Cisneros finds herself especially attracted to children because of her keen aptitude for demonstrating the difficulty children have in expressing their sadness and trauma to adults, and the difficulty adults have in understanding child sadness and trauma.
"I'm 36 on the outside, but on the inside I'm 10, I'm 14, I'm 27, and I'm 5," she said. "I don't forget what it feels like. I remember what that was like."
